Microsoft releases Windows 7 Service Pack SP1

For last 2-3 days I am constantly reading articles about the first Windows 7 Service pack released by Microsoft. I thought I should also give it a try. and I logged on to my VM of Windows 7 Ultimate and started browsing  for the latest SP1 updates available for  Windows 7. So here, i am sharing my findings with TechSTarz users.

What does windows 7 SP1 contain?

First of all what does windows 7 SP1 update contains. In a small write up on the SP1 release page, Microsoft tells us that SP1 is an important update because it contains:

  2. Improved reliability when connecting to HDMI audio devices
  3. Fix for printing mix-orientation XPS documents
  4. Restoring previous folders in Windows Explorer

So, first thing that SP1 does is makes your system, fit for accepting all future updates by tuning your machine with all the past released security and other fixes. The second point means, SP1 will ensure that connections between Windows 7 computers and HDMI audio devices are maintained without any breakages, a known problem with windows 7. SP1 also fixes the problem faced by Windows 7 users in printing an XPS document which contains both portrait as well as landscape orientations. This was again a know issue and windows 7 used to print such documents in a single  way, either portrait or landscape. Windows 7  option to restore previous folders in a cascaded way based on the location of the most recently active folder. Post SP1 update, all folders will be restored to their actual locations.
