Motorola's new touch screen phone Evoke Q4 launched

Motorola Evoke Q4

Motorola has launched its latest touch screen mobile phone Motorola EvokeTM QA4,  Company expects this new mobile to relieve some of the prssure that company is facing  against its competitors.

The phone will be available in US market by the end of second quarter of 2009, though  it may take some time to launch  this phone India.

The troubled handset maker has been facing problems for quite some time now and the ongoing global recession has only added to the issues. Hopefully, the QE4 can aide it out of problems.

As for the Evoke QE4, at the first glance, it resembles a cross between the Palm Pre and the iPhone. The ovoid looks of the device might not appeal to all. However, it certainly is an eye catcher. The device is not a smart phone and runs proprietary Motorola OS but has support for widgets and also features a full HTML browser. The menu structure resembles that of the iPhone and could have been a bit original. The phone also features a slide-out keyboard when held vertically. A virtual, on-screen keyboard does the job when held horizontally. There is a 2-megapixel camera thrown in and is capable of recording videos as well.

At 128 grams, the device is not exactly a heavyweight, but then it is not heavy on features as well. It comes with a 1170mAh battery that should be good for 5.5 hours of talk time or 18 days of standby time. Hopefully, Motorola will add more Windows Mobile and Android based devices into their kitty in the coming months with similar form factors to regain some of its lost glory. The Evoke QE4 will be on sale by the second quarter of 2009. Pricing details are not disclosed as yet.
